What to Do If Illness Occurs

According to the CDC, if you or someone in your family gets sick, it is recommended that the sick member stays home for at least 24 hours after fever is gone (without use of medications). They also recommend that the sick member avoids contact with other people.

A person with an illness related to the H1N1 virus should do the following:

* get plenty of rest, drink clear fluids
* stay home from work or school, or any other social activities
* in cases of people with chronic illness, children, or pregnant women, it is recommended to consult with a health care provider

In addition, watch for emergency warning signs from the H1N1 virus that may need medical treatment such as:
Warning signs for children

* not drinking enough fluids
